Felt Ornaments:
Eliza Fegley, 1998.
Supplies Needed:
Felt, assorted colours
Embroidery thread to match or compliment the felt
Large needle
Ribbon
Filler or herbs
How-To:
1. Cut out two of the same shape to make one ornament.
2. Place both pieces of felt together and line them up. Don't worry if they
aren't exactly the same because as you are sewing them you can sort of "fit"
the edges together and no one will ever know. Also, don't worry about any
jagged edges. After the ornament is sewn, you can lightly trim off any rough
spots.
3. Sew about an 1/8 of an inch in from the edges. Do not worry about uneven
stitches or sewing in and then out too far. It gives the ornament a country
feel. (Seriously, it does. You'll see when the ornament is done.)
4. Remember to insert cut ribbon in the top of ornament and sew over the
ribbon to hold it in place. You may want to also knot the two ends of the
ribbon together before insertion to hold it in better.
5. Leave a one inch opening and fill it with either a filler or herbs. Sew closed.
6. That's it!
