Drying Corn Husks

During the corn season, save all your corn husks and some of the corn silk if you want to dry it for corn husk doll's hair.

To dry, simply spread the husks out in a warm dry place. On hot, sunny days you can spread the husks out on the patio and let the sun bleach the husks but remember to bring them in before night fall.

Drying can take up to two weeks.

Once the corn husks are completely dry you can store them in a box or, if you have problems with rodants (namely mice), store them in a plastic container. If your corn husks are not completely dry they will get mold spots on them.

To further bleach corn husks after they have dried, soak them for a few hours in a bucket of warm water and a capful of liquid bleach. Afterwards remove and allow to dry again.
