Simple Twig Wreath
Eliza Fegley, 2001

Wire hangers are never safe around me. Sometimes I cut them with the wire clippers and make spirals and goddess shapes out of them to hang on the walls. Sometimes they are mutilated for papier mache projects. This time, I've begun bending wire hangers to make twig wreaths.

Needed:

Wire hanger
Thin flexible wire such as floral wire
Twigs, berries, dried flowers, pinecones, etc.

Instructions:

1. Bend the body of the wire hanger to form a circle.

2. Bend the hook of the hanger down to form an oval. This is where you will hang the wreath when it is finished.

3. Cut some thin wire, about 6 inches long.

4. Take small handfuls of twigs, about 5 inches length (longer or shorter, depends on preference), and twist the thin wire around each bunch.

5. Once you have small bunches of twigs wired together, you next begin wiring each bunch down onto the hanger wire. Overlap the bunches as you work around the hanger.

6. Once you've all the wire hanger covered in twigs, you can add decorations such as berries or pinecones or bunches of herbs and dried flowers by either glueing them onto the twigs or tucking them into the wreath.

7. Let the glue dry, if you used any, and hang.
